I was always intrigued by becoming a barber. Ever since I was little, I was in the barbershop once a week. I was always real cool with my barber — he cut my hair from the time I was a little kid, through elementary school, middle school and high school, whether it was for football games, looking good for school, all the way up to prom. That was awesome. So I always loved the idea of becoming a barber.
I love it, man. I've been doing it for 4 years, and I've grown as a person in so many different ways. I love everything there is to barbering. The barbershop I'm at right now is the first one I went to straight out of school, and I'm glad I was put there. The community itself is so big, but yet so small — everybody knows everybody. If someone's in my chair and someone else is in another chair, they know each other somehow. And if they don't, their kids are involved in sports together or something like that. It's really fun to see that everybody in the barbershop knows someone from something.
My favorite types of haircuts are mid and high fades. I like those, man — they look fresh on people. I also love gentleman's cuts: a nice two, three or four on the sides, slick back, comb over — those types of haircuts are my favorite as well.
One of the biggest things you're going to get whenever you sit in my chair is a good conversation. Outside of work, I love sports — mainly football — I love to golf, and I'm a big movie and TV show guy. I'd say I'm the movie guy in the barbershop. I love to quote all kinds of movies. One of the things I love about having people in my chair is that they're able to talk about anything they want — what's new, anything. So whenever you sit in my chair, it's a good feeling to know you're not just sitting around. You're going to have a good conversation about whatever it is you like, or whatever we like together. I also like learning new things, so it's always good to have people in my chair learn about me while I learn about them.
